It’s Time to Talk Deep Breathing!

Let’s begin to understand the WHY.

WHY is deep breathing beneficial for the lymphatics?

Listen to Your Gut!

50% of our lymphatic system exists in our abdomen. As we breathe deeply and our ribs and belly expand and contract, the muscle movement is pumping all of that lymph.

Peristalsis

These contractions also help stimulate peristalsis, the natural contractions the muscles of our gastrointestinal tract make to help digest food and move our bowels. As our bowels move, our body expels toxins that were filtered through the lymphatic system. More bowel movements — less holding of toxins and less stress on our lymphatics as well as our entire body.

Parasympathetic is the GOAL!

Deep breathing can help the body shift into a more parasympathetic state or the “rest, digest, heal” mode. At a time in history when so many things force our body to get locked into a sympathetic state or “flight, fight, freeze”, this can be integral to our body truly getting into a state where we can heal and regenerate.
